Shipjin 십진
Ten creatures of long life
About the form
Shipjin stands for the ten symbols of longevity (sun, moon, mountain, water, stone, pine, the herb of eternal youth, tortoise, deer and crane) and for the decimal system: orderly, endless development and growth. Its techniques carry that same imagery from nature: the bull block, the mountain-opening block, the boulder push. The ✛-shaped floor line leaves the center along each arm and returns to it four times.
Shipjin is number 5 of the nine Yudanja forms, the black-belt curriculum of World Taekwondo. It follows Pyongwon. It precedes Jitae.
